(Lansing, MI) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will be issued starting Saturday. The U.S. Department of Agriculture will reduce the payments to 50-percent of normal for one-point-four-million Michiganders who are eligible for the federal benefit. The state says the SNAP payments will arrive on people’s debit cards November 8th if they normally get them on the third, fifth, or seventh of the month.
The lower payment is due to the federal government shutdown and was ordered by a court decision.
