(Lansing, MI) – Bipartisan bills are under consideration by the state House to increase the penalty for drivers who hit and injure pedestrians or bicyclists. The bills would make that a five-year felony also punishable by a five-thousand-dollar fine. If a pedestrian or bicyclist is killed, the penalty would be ten-years in prison.
The bills are sponsored by Democratic Representative Julie Rogers of Kalamazoo and Republican Representative Pauline Wendzel of Watervliet.
