GRAND HAVEN, MI – The Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority proudly announces that Fortino’s, a beloved local business with over 100 years of history, has been awarded a Match on Main grant through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Part of Governor Whitmer’s July 2025 economic development initiative, the grant supports small businesses in Michigan’s Main Street communities with up to $25,000 in funding.

Fortino’s will use the grant for interior improvements and equipment upgrades, aligning with efforts to revitalize downtown Grand Haven and support place-based economic development.

Since acquiring Fortino’s in 2015, owner Kelly Larson has preserved the store’s rich legacy while enhancing its role in the community—renovating upper-floor apartments for year-round tourism and contributing to numerous local events and organizations. Larson’s stewardship continues to blend tradition with innovation, helping downtown Grand Haven thrive.

This award reflects Fortino’s ongoing commitment to downtown vibrancy and underscores the importance of small business investment in Michigan’s economic future.
