(Lansing, MI) – New deer hunting rules will be in place this fall in Michigan. The Department of Natural Resources says hunters will have expanded access to public and private land in the Lower Peninsula in the early and late antlerless firearm deer seasons. DNR Wildlife Interactions Unit supervisor Chad Stewart says they need to make changes as the number of deer hunters has fallen from over 800-thousand 20 years ago to around 550-thousand now.
Stewart says the change was tried out last year and will be in place again in 2025.
