Park Twp., MI (WGHN) -The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) executed a search warrant Wednesday at a residence in the 1700 block of State Street in Park Township, as part of an ongoing investigation into the production of counterfeit bank checks.
The investigation, which began in April, identified a local man and several associates believed to be involved in manufacturing and distributing fake checks. Authorities say the counterfeit checks have been passed at multiple businesses throughout Ottawa County, and at least one included banking information linked to an account operated by the 58th District Court.
The OCSO Critical Response Team assisted in the operation, which involved a significant police presence in the neighborhood for several hours as investigators searched the property.
During the search, a 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene on probation violation charges. His name has not been released, pending formal charges and arraignment.
The investigation into the fraudulent check scheme remains active.
