State Representative Accuses Democrats Of Overblowing Impact Of Medicaid Cuts

(Lansing, MI) – Michigan House Appropriations Subcommittee on Medicaid and Behavioral Health chairman Greg VanWoerkom says Democrats have been overblowing the impact of Medicaid cuts from the federal government. The Norton Shores Republican says the cuts to Medicaid will be manageable and “wasn’t as egregious as Democrats have been suggesting it was.”

VanWoerkom says work needs to be done by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to make sure people receiving Medicaid need it. Democratic Congresswoman Hillary Scholten and state Representative Carol Glanville say state lawmakers will need to make changes in response to the “one big, beautiful bill” that was signed by President Trump last week.
