Good Samaritans Help Two Men From Wrecked Plane

(Georgetown Township, MI) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says two people who saw a small plane crash into the water at a gravel pit in Georgetown Township yesterday quickly helped save the two men onboard. Both of the victims are in their 80s and are recovering in a hospital.

The plane went down after it took off from the Riverview Airport and the two Hudsonville men who were in the plane suffered serious injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash. The family of the pilot tells WOOD TV 8 that he did not sustain major trauma but no update on his passenger.

The Ottawa County Dive Team partnered with with Hudsonville towing to pull the plane out of the water and up the embankment.
