Holland Twp., MI (WGHN) –  The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a reported fight involving several individuals near Beeline Road and Felch Street around 4:20 this morning. The altercation reportedly involved a silver Hyundai Elantra. By the time deputies arrived, the vehicle had fled the scene and those remaining were uncooperative.
Shortly after the initial call, a deputy located a serious crash at the intersection of US-31 and Felch Street. The silver Hyundai Elantra had collided with a northbound tractor-trailer carrying two loads of rock, causing the semi to overturn and spill its cargo across US-31. Initial investigation revealed the 24-year-old male  traveling eastbound on Felch Street  when he ran a red light at US-31, resulting in a collision with the semi. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
The driver of the Hyundai, a Holland resident, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Aero Med to Corewell Health Hospital in Grand Rapids. The 60-year-old driver of the semi was transported by AMR Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of this report, northbound US-31 remains closed at Felch Street for investigation and cleanup. The crash remains under active investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Holland Township Fire Department, Holland City Fire Department, AMR Ambulance, Ottawa County Road Commission, and Aero Med.
