Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Sweet Temptations is proud to announce the winners of this year’s Cool School Competition—a delicious partnership between area schools and our local ice cream stores. This year’s event raised $8,658.58 for 16 area schools, bringing the program’s total community contribution to over $120,898 since it began in 2008.

At Skoops, Griffin Elementary emerged as the top school, earning $1,547.79 in a close contest with Robinson and Peach Plains. Over at The Front Porch, long-time favorite Holmes Elementary took first place once again, raising $1000.00. Jeffers Elementary and Spring Lake Intermediate rounded out the top three.

The Cool School program assigns schools to each Sweet Temptations location, with 10% of each day’s sales donated to the assigned school. The top-performing school at each store earns an additional 5% of all participating schools’ sales, while second and third place schools receive 3% and 2%, respectively.

“Partnerships like the one we have with Sweet Temptations show just how much a community can rally around its schools,” said Dennis Furton, Superintendent of Spring Lake Schools. “Their generous support through the Cool School program not only provides much-needed funding—it shows our students that local businesses believe in them and their future. It’s a sweet way to make a real impact.”

“Skoops’ Cool School is a great way to have fun, spend time with family, and raise money for our school,” said the Griffin PTO. “This year, the funds helped provide fourth grade history books, second grade math supplements, and flexible seating for third graders. These added resources support both students and teachers in meaningful ways.”

Each school decides how to make the day special—some host classroom contests, create custom sundaes, or simply celebrate the end of the school year. Regardless of the approach, the program continues to provide vital support for everything from classroom supplies to playground equipment.
