Grand Rapids, MI (WGHN) – A heat dome is bringing extreme heat and humidity to more than 200 million Americans. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids says an Extreme Heat Watch is in effect Saturday morning through Tuesday evening. Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 108.

Protect Yourself and Others:
Stay hydrated – Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Avoid peak heat hours – Try to stay indoors between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Check on vulnerable individuals – Elderly neighbors, young children, and those with health conditions are at higher risk.
Never leave children or pets in vehicles – Even with windows cracked, temperatures can become deadly in minutes.
Limit strenuous outdoor activities – Especially during the hottest parts of the day.
