(Lansing, MI) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer says Republican budget cuts that are before Congress will cost Michigan nearly 900-million-dollars on food assistance as she says those payments would be shifted to state governments. She has been critical of what President Trump has called a “big, beautiful bill.” Whitmer says if the cuts are signed into law, “more Michiganders will go to bed with a pit in their stomach” and called that “unacceptable.”
The bill would also cut federal Medicaid spending.
