Grand Haven, MI — The Momentum Center invites the community to step into the magic of Oz at the 9th annual “Prom with a Purpose” on Saturday, May 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Trillium Event Center, 17246 VanWagoner Road in Spring Lake. Open to guests 18 and older, this beloved annual tradition celebrates music, dancing, and connection—all while supporting a meaningful cause, reducing the stigma associated with mental illness, disabilities and addiction recovery.
Each year, more than 300 attendees—including singles, couples, groups, and Momentum Center Members and Patrons—gather for an unforgettable evening filled with fun, dinner, inspiration, music and dancing to support Momentum Center’s programming.
Hear the interview with Barbara Lee VanHorssen, Founder and CEO of the Momentum Center and Michael Cansfield, Development Director below.
This year’s theme, “Oz”, will transport guests to a dazzling Emerald City, complete with vibrant rainbow décor, much of it created and executed by Momentum Members. Through Prom with a Purpose, the Momentum Center lives out its belief that everyone deserves the chance to fly, bringing together people of all types to build understanding and appreciation.
The evening’s festivities include DJ Eddie of Dance Tracks keeping the dance floor alive, a Buffet Dinner by Trillium Events Center and sumptuous desserts by Grand Finale, cash bar, exciting raffle prizes, and professional prom portraits by Kim Street. Prom attire or Ozian wear is encouraged but not required—everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
Tickets are $40 per person, with an option to underwrite ticket subsidies for Momentum Members who would love to attend but need financial assistance. Other patron level tickets and sponsorships begin at $200.
