(Lansing, MI) – Elected officials in Michigan are issuing comments on the death of Pope Francis yesterday at the age of 88. Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell all issued statements on the passing of the Pope. Whitmer said Pope Francis was an inspiration and “reminded us that the true measures of one’s devotion to God comes in one’s devotion to others.”

Nessel called him a “once-in-a-generation leader” and Dingell noted the “world has lost a leader who gave so many of us hope.”
