(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin has introduced her first bill in the chamber. The Holly Democrat wants to ban or limit vehicles and parts from China to the United States if they “pose a threat to national security.” Slotkin is expressing concerns that Chinese vehicles could collect data on Americans through cameras and sensors that gather information.
She says Chinese vehicles are “dirt cheap thanks to state subsidies” and could college “full motion video of sensitive sites, 3D mapping, and geolocation of individual drivers” and send it to Beijing.
