(Lansing, MI) –Michigan’s child car seat laws are changing effective Wednesday, April 2. Children younger than two need to be in a rear-facing car seat and only then can they switch to a forward-facing car seat. They will be required until children are five-years-old or reach the maximum height or weight allowed by the car seat’s manufacturer. A booster seat will then be used until the child is eight-years-old or four-feet-nine-inches tall.
All children also need to be in a vehicle’s rear seat until they are 13 unless a rear seat isn’t available.
