(Lansing, MI) – The Michigan Immigrant Rights Center says they have been ordered to stop work on the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s legal services program for unaccompanied children. The MIRC says they condemn the “cruel action” taken by the federal government and call the program for children essential. They say the order will impact over 800 children being served by them in Michigan.
The MIRC says they will continue serving their clients as best and as long as they can, but says 80-percent of their current staffing is affected by the stop work order.
