(OTTAWA COUNTY)-The wintery weather in West Michigan has led to a series of severe vehicle accidents.
Today, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office reported two incidents involving semis that were directly caused by the weather.
A pickup truck collided with a jack-knifed hauler around 1045 AM on westbound I-196 between the Hudsonville & Zeeland exits.
The pickup caught fire, but no one was hurt.
Shortly before three PM, another semi was executing a ‘Michigan Left’ on Lake Michigan Drive near North Campus Drive in Allendale Township.
Due to the dangerous white-out conditions, the semi pulled in front of an oncoming passenger vehicle mid-turn.
The car, driven by a 19-year-old male, crashed into the trailer and got stuck.
The teenager suffered minor injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.
The truck driver was uninjured. Authorities stress the potential danger of these conditions and urge motorists to drive with extreme caution.
