Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – A new law will require drivers to give more room to snow plows starting this winter. Governor Whitmer signed a bill in July that requires drivers to keep their vehicles at least 200-feet from an active plow. Alex Doty with the Ottawa County Road Commission states says that 200-feet is about 13 car lengths and he says the distance can close in very quick if a snowplow is only going 20 to 30-miles-an-hour.

It is also illegal to drive within 20 feet of a stopped snowplow at an intersection.
