(Holland, MI) – Ottawa County plans to use nearly a million dollars in funding to expand the Veterans Services Department in the county. Money will be used to hire additional staff and to relocate the Veterans Services Department offices from Holland to West Olive. Ottawa County Veteran Services Director Jason Schenkel said the new location will allow area veterans more privacy when discussing claims, afterlife care and other issues at the center.
The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners voted nine-to-two in favor of using 981-thousand dollars from the American Rescue Plan for the Veterans Services Department’s plans.
