Grand Haven, MI – The Momentum Center is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to improve community health outcomes.

A research study on the impact of the Momentum Center for Community Mental Health (CMH) consumers has been published in the renowned peer-reviewed journal, Global Journal of Community Psychology Practices. This study highlights the remarkable impact of the Center’s interventions on mental health, demonstrating not only improved health outcomes but also a substantial return on investment.

The study revealed that members experience better health outcomes while requiring less costly interventions, showing a return on investment of $4 for every dollar received from millage money. This result underscores the value and efficiency of the Momentum Center’s programs, making a strong case for continued and increased support.

The research was a collaborative effort, with contributions from Dr. Travis Andrews of Then Atlas and Dr. Gloria Lee of Michigan State University. The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation’s generous grant funding was instrumental in making this research possible.

The evidence presented in this study not only validates current Momentum Center efforts, but also provides a robust framework for future initiatives. Moving forward, the Momentum Center hopes to leverage these insights to further enhance the health and well-being of Ottawa County.

In addition to this achievement, the Momentum Center has successfully completed its capital campaign and renovation at the Grand Haven location. Barbara Lee VanHorssen, Experi-Mentor, stated, “We are so grateful for the support of this community in stepping up to financially support our services. We are also grateful for the academic support that has helped us demonstrate our impact. Truly, the Momentum Center is a community response to a community need.”
