Bicyclist Hit in Olive Township

Olive, Twp., MI (WGHN) – A 20-year-old bicyclist suffered non life threatening injuries after being hit just after 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening in Olive Township. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says that a 34-year-old Fruitport man was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Fillmore Street east of Allen Drive and was distracted by the glare of the sun onto the roadway and crossed the fog line.

At this time the vehicle struck a bicyclist that was heading eastbound on the westbound shoulder causing non life threatening injuries. The 20 year old female bicyclist from Brownstown Township, Michigan was transported to Zeeland Community Hospital by AMR Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.
