(Grand Rapids, MI) – Former First Lady Betty Ford’s battle with breast cancer is being featured in a new exhibit at the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids. She was diagnosed with breast cancer just six weeks after her husband became President in 1974 and went public with the news with the American people. United State Archivist Colleen Shogan says women in the 1970s didn’t talk about any type of cancer or their health publicly and Ford was a trailblazer.

The exhibit is called “The Betty Blip: Betty Ford’s Battle Against Breast Cancer” and will be open until April 9th.
