(Muskegon, MI) — Ottawa County is being ordered to pay more than 188-thousand-dollars to the Health Officer Adeline Hambley’s attorney. Muskegon County 14th Circuit Court Judge Jenny McNeill ruled the county needs to pay attorney Sarah Howard to cover the costs of handing the lawsuit filed by Hambley against the county, and for representing her during her termination hearing. The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners dismissed all charges against the health officer in February, and she dropped her lawsuit against them. The ruling closes Hambley’s lawsuit that was filed in February 2023 after the commission tried to fire her at their first meeting in January 2023.

The budget meeting scheduled for tonight has been canceled.
