Six-Year-Old Struck by Vehicle in Stable Condition

Coopersville, MI (WGHN) – A six-year-old boy is at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle in Coopersville just before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn after darting out in between vehicles.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the boy was operating a battery powered hover-board when a 44-year-old Saginaw man who was operating a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado in the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn at appropriate speed struck the boy. The boy then went under the Chevrolet Silverado and was hit by the rear tire. The six year old was learning how to operate the electronic hover-board while being watched by his older brother when he darted out between the parked vehicles and was struck.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Coopersville Polkton Fire Rescue. The child’s injuries were not life threatening and listed as stable condition at the hospital.
