(BLENDON TOWNSHIP)-Five children and three adults were injured following a two-car accident in Blendon Township late Tuesday morning.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says a vehicle containing two adults and five children between the ages of 3 and 10 was eastbound on Tyler Street near 72nd Avenue.
The driver stopped for the sign at the crossing and pulled into the intersection, where they collided with a southbound dump truck.
All vehicles came to rest in a cornfield off 72nd Ave.
Two of the children involved are listed in critical condition at DeVos Children’s Hospital; the other three are stable. The truck driver and the adults accompanying the children all sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say there is no posted stop sign for north and southbound traffic on 72nd Avenue, the road on which the dump truck was operating.
The investigation into this incident continues.
