(GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP)—This Wednesday, local law enforcement will exercise its preparedness for a mass casualty.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says police, firefighters, emergency medical service providers, dispatchers, and volunteer actors will participate in the practice at Harvest Church in Grand Haven Township on Wednesday evening.

The church will close at 3 PM to allow setup, with the exercise slated for 6 to 10 PM. This area will not be accessible during the test.

Local hospitals will also participate in the exercise during this time by receiving communication. Shortly, those hospitals will hold another drill to handle the medical surge that theoretically comes from this incident.

Participating agencies include the Grand Haven Township Fire Department, the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, Ottawa County Emergency Management Division, and the Ottawa Medical Control Board Authority.

There will be no disruption to regular, real-life coverage during the exercise.
