(Ottawa County, MI) – The far-right Ottawa Impact group has lost its majority on the Ottawa County board of commissioners after commissioners Gretchen Cosby and Roger Belknap lost in yesterday’s primary. Belknap lost to Phil Kuyers in District 9.
Four Ottawa Impact commissioners won yesterday, including co-founders Joe Moss and Sylvia Rhodea, but voters in Cosby and Belknap’s districts chose moderate, traditional Republicans. There are eleven seats on the county board in Ottawa County and in January commissioners start serving four year terms.
Josh Brugger receives over 71 percent of the vote beating Jason Koert in District 10. Brugger told WGHN News that he ran to give people hope.

Ottawa County Sheriff Eric DeBoer wins against Jon Anderson.
Sarah Matwiejczyk defeats Greg Todd.
NW Ottawa County renews Aging Millage . Museum millage passes. Spring Lake Township bike path millage increase passed as well as Spring Lake Township bike path millage renewal.
Spring Lake Township Harbor Transit millage renewal passed as well. Loutit District Library millage passes too.
West Michigan Attorney Paul Hudson will face off against Democratic opponent Hillary Scholten, as well as any other third-party challengers, in the November election.
Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District is comprised of Kent, Muskegon and Ottawa counties, and includes the cities of Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Grand Haven.
