(Portage, MI) – The National Weather Service is confirming four tornadoes touched down in Michigan Tuesday, leaving at least one person injured. Sheriff Richard Fuller with the Kalamazoo Sheriff’s Office detailed the destruction of one mobile home park.
“About 176 homes are what we believe are the damaged properties inside the mobile home community. At the same time we know there is about what looks like 15-17 that had been totally destroyed.”
Fuller said luckily no one was severely hurt in those homes. A FedEx facility collapsed in Portage, about 50 miles south of Grand Rapids. Severe weather continues to threaten a swath of the country across the Ohio Valley and into the mid-South.
