(Newaygo, MI) – The grandparents of the five-year-old boy who was shot and killed by his six-year-old cousin at their Newaygo County home are charged with violating the state’s safe storage law involving the death of a minor. Karl and Theresa Robart were charged with the felony yesterday and face up to 15 years in prison.
The father of the victim says they also want the shooter’s mother to be charged. Karl Robart told police he used the 12-gauge shotgun for protection and to shoot critters, adding it hadn’t been used for two months and had been unloaded.
