West Olive, MI (WGHN) – Ottawa County welcomes Cheryl Clark as its newest Treasurer, appointed to the esteemed position on December 19, 2023, by a selection committee. Following her appointment, Cheryl was sworn in on December 29, 2023, by Representative Bradley J. Slagh, a former Ottawa County Treasurer, with her official duties commencing on January 1, 2024.
Cheryl brings to her role a wealth of experience garnered over 28 years of dedicated service to Ottawa County residents. Her journey within the county government began in various capacities, including Environmental Health and Property Description & Mapping/Equalization, where she demonstrated her commitment to serving the community with integrity and diligence. Notably, Cheryl has been an integral part of the Treasurer’s Office since 2008, serving as both Deputy Treasurer and Chief Deputy Treasurer.
Before her tenure as the Deputy and Chief Deputy in the Treasurer’s Office, Cheryl served as the Treasurer of Robinson Township for an impressive nine years, showcasing her leadership and financial acumen at the local level. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Cornerstone University, providing her with a solid foundation in financial management and strategic planning.
Throughout her career, Cheryl has pursued continuous learning and professional development, earning several certifications and completing various trainings in leadership, local and county government, and public finance. Among her notable achievements are the Advanced Certified Public Funds Investment Manager certification received in 2020 and the High-Performance Leadership Master Certificate attained in 2021.
