Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – A Muskegon man is in custody after being suspected of breaking into multiple storage unit facilities in Ottawa County. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested a 38-year-old man Thursday morning on several unrelated warrants. They believe the man is linked to more than one dozen burglaries in Ottawa County and the surrounding areas.
Law enforcement said that after arresting the man, they found a large amount of stolen property at a home in Muskegon. They believe the stolen property is worth over $15,000. In those cases, suspect(s) had forced entry to storage units and gained access to property stored within. The thieves had targeted valuables such as: tools, furniture, fishing tackle, electronics, a moped and other personal items.
After the arrest, Detectives recovered a large amount of stolen property from a residence in Muskegon. The recovered stolen property is believed to be valued in excess of $15,000. Investigators are working on identifying the victims and returning their property. The suspect remains lodged at the Ottawa County Jail and he will not be identified pending formal charges and arraignment.
