Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Grand Haven City Council has appointed Amy Vos as the city’s next clerk, following the decision to rescind a conditional job offer to its previous choice.
Vos, who has served as the city’s deputy clerk since 2024, was unanimously approved Monday. She previously worked in municipal government in Muskegon Charter Township and Laketon Township and holds a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University, along with a Michigan Professional Municipal Clerk certification.
Council had originally selected Eric Roberts, the deputy clerk for the City of Belding, during a ranked vote on October 19. However, the city’s human resources department recommended withdrawing the offer after concerns surfaced during a background check and reference interviews.
Human Resources Manager Tahlor Heft told council that the city identified areas of concern during the screening process. Three of Roberts’ references also raised concerns during interviews conducted by Grand Haven Department of Public Safety Detective Eric Rasch.
The council unanimously voted to rescind Roberts’ offer before turning to Vos, who finished second in the original ranked vote. Her appointment was also approved unanimously.
An Ottawa County Forward Vision Taskforce would feature representatives of all 24 units of local government says City Manager Ashley Lastch:
People will be appointed on committiees to then meet with the taskforce to discuss issues inthe county. That will then be relayed to city council.
