(Detroit, MI) — The most expensive U.S. Senate race in Michigan history has been won by Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, who defeated Republican Mike Rogers, a former member of the U.S. House. El-Sayed addressed supporters last night, calling the campaign one of the ugliest seen in their lifetimes.
The former public health official and son of Egyptian immigrants will be the first ever Muslim senator. He’ll be part of the new Democratic Party majority in the U.S. Senate when he takes office in January.
In his speech, El-Sayed called out President Trump.
