(Detroit, MI) – United Auto Workers Region 1 director LaShawn English says “it’s going to take a lot” before the union would welcome Congresswoman Haley Stevens to union halls and events. English called Stevens a code-switcher after the Democrat announced her endorsement of former Congressman Mike Rogers, the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate. Stevens is a UAW representative in her region in Oakland County and her staff revolted and quit after she backed Rogers over Abdul El-Sayed.

El-Sayed defeated her in the August primary and she says he “made very clear that I was not welcome in his campaign, that he didn’t need me there, didn’t want me there.”
