(Detroit, MI) – A Detroit Economic Club forum Tuesday featuring U.S. Senate candidates Mike Rogers and Abdul El-Sayed presented their different approaches to issues like tariffs and artificial intelligence. They were not on stage together, but both agreed that tariffs could be sound economic tools if they are used correctly and AI needs federal guardrails. Rogers and El-Sayed will debate tonight. El-Sayed says President Trump is not using import tariffs in a positive way, and the tariffs are “chaotic,” “ham-fisted,” and “self-serving.”
Rogers says he would push the President to adjust the tariff approach.
