(Allendale Township, MI) — A contracted security officer has died after a hit-and-run on the Grand Valley State University Allendale campus Friday morning. One GVSU student is in custody for the crash. The security officer was employed by a third-party that has been hired to enforce restricted Valley Campus access to faculty, students, staff, contractors, preregistered guests and emergency service vehicles between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. every day.
The security changes are the result of a dozen vehicle break-ins, a man bringing a gun to campus and making threats and a brawl that led to two arrests.
