Benson, James Hold Last Debate In Race For Governor

(Detroit, MI)  — The differing plans for healthcare, education, taxes, data centers and more were on full display in the final debate between Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Congressman John James as they vie to become governor.
Benson accused James of buying stocks and making millions of dollars from data center companies “he’s supposed to be regulating,” and then giving them tax breaks.  James accused Benson and her husband for bulldozing the will of Saline residents “to carpet over the productive green farmland against her commitment” for a new data center in Washtenaw County.
Both candidates promised to lower people’s taxes and repeated attacks on each other from their first debate, with Benson linking James to President Trump, and James saying she doesn’t want voters to remember she’s been Secretary of State for the last eight years and “has done nothing to changes the way you’ve been living.”
