(Lansing, MI) – Michigan farmers are getting some relief from high diesel prices. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared a state of energy emergency, suspending dyed diesel use rules for forestry and farm vehicles. She blames the prices on the war with Iran and Republican lawmakers in Washington, DC who have backed President Trump’s battles. Whitmer says work needs to continue to “reduce pressure on the people who keep our state’s ag economy running.”
The current average price for a gallon of diesel in Michigan is nearly six-dollars-50-cents, and dyed diesel is around a dollar less because it is not taxed.
