Zeeland Woman Killed, Deputy Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash in Olive Township

Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – A 65-year-old Zeeland woman is dead, and an Ottawa County sheriff’s deputy is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries following a three-vehicle crash in Olive Township Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened around 2:55 p.m. at 96th Avenue and Tyler Street. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, a northbound Honda pickup truck struck a Chevrolet Equinox before crossing the center line and colliding with a southbound patrol vehicle.

The deputy was responding to a separate crash with emergency lights and sirens activated at the time. The woman driving the pickup truck died at the scene despite efforts by first responders to provide medical assistance.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Equinox was not injured.

Michigan State Police are investigating the crash.
