Blendon Twp., MI (WGHN) – Two teens were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Blendon Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 7:19 a.m. at the intersection of 72nd Avenue and Blair Street.

Deputies said a Toyota RAV4 was traveling north on 72nd Avenue when it rear-ended a Hyundai Santa Fe that was slowing to make a turn. The impact pushed the Hyundai across the centerline, where it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Impala.  After the crash, the Toyota left the roadway and caught fire. The 21-year-old driver, a Zeeland man, was able to get out of the vehicle. He was treated at the scene and released.

The Hyundai’s driver and passenger, both girls ages 17 and 14, suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The 36-year-old Allendale woman driving the Chevrolet Impala suffered minor injuries. She was treated at the scene and released.

A portion of 72nd Avenue was closed while emergency crews worked at the scene but has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
