(Washington, DC) – Millions of Medicare enrollees could see lower premiums for private Medicare Advantage plans next year, while prescription drug premiums are expected to rise slightly. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services says the average Medicare Advantage premium will drop to $12 a month in 2027, down from about $14.37 this year. Average premiums for stand-alone Part D drug plans will rise by less than a dollar, to about $36 a month.
Medicare plans must notify enrollees of changes by September 30th, with open enrollment running October 15th through December 7th. Experts are urging seniors to review their coverage, including premiums, drug lists and provider networks, before choosing a plan for 2027.
