(Detroit, MI) — Comerica Park will be known starting in 2027 as Fifth Third Park following the merger between the two banks. The reaction from baseball fans was mixed.
Detroit Tigers and Fifth Third Bank officials made the announcement of the new name yesterday, changing it after 26 seasons. The ballpark opened April 11th, 2000 as the Tigers hosted the Seattle Mariners after Tiger Stadium closed following being the team’s home for 87-years.
Tim Spence is the CEO and president of Fifth Third Bank and talked about the renaming of Comerica Park to Fifth Third Park.
