Grand Haven, Mi (WGHN) – The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation is awarding more than 687-thousand dollars in Community Impact grants to organizations across Northwest Ottawa County.
The grants will support programs focused on health, education, public safety, environmental sustainability, nonprofit services and other community needs.
One of the largest grants, 114-thousand-500 dollars, is going to Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence. The organization provides free and confidential services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, including crisis intervention, advocacy, housing support and prevention education.
The Foundation says the grant will help Resilience maintain services as victim-support organizations face potential reductions in government funding.
Other grants include 30-thousand dollars for Child Development Services of Ottawa County to help build a new playground at the Central School childcare center in Grand Haven.
HEARTSafe Tri-Cities is receiving 23-thousand-600 dollars to expand CPR and AED training and emergency preparedness efforts in the Tri-Cities.
John Ball Zoo is receiving 150-thousand dollars to support geothermal infrastructure for a new giraffe habitat.
The Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance received 300-thousand dollars for a three-year effort to strengthen leadership, governance, technology and financial management among nonprofits serving Northwest Ottawa County.
And Ready for School is receiving more than 69-thousand-600 dollars to expand the Reach Out and Read program at Corewell Health Pediatrics in Grand Haven.
The Community Foundation says the grants are designed to strengthen local organizations and improve quality of life throughout Northwest Ottawa County.
