State To Test Pay-Per-Mile System For Road Repair Funding

(Lansing, MI) – The state will test a pay-per-mile system for drivers to pay a tax on how far they drive instead of the gas tax. The money would be put to road repairs and the system is being driven partly by the increase in hybrid and electric vehicles.

Drivers are split on it, with some saying it’s a creative way “for Big Brother to have more intrusion in our lives,” and others saying it would be a more accurate way to have drivers pay for road work.
