PORT SHELDON TWP. — A 45-year-old Wyoming resident suffered serious injuries Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Port Sheldon Township.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency crews were called to the intersection of Port Sheldon Street and 152nd Avenue around 8:35 a.m. following reports of a crash involving a trapped driver.
According to preliminary information from investigators, the Wyoming man was traveling northbound on 152nd Avenue in a 2018 Mazda when he failed to yield the right-of-way. The Mazda entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound 2019 Ford driven by a 39-year-old Holland resident.
The collision left the Mazda driver trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters and rescue personnel with Port Sheldon Township Fire and Rescue performed an extrication before the injured driver was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
The occupants of the Ford reported minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said the crash remains under investigation.
