Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The rivalry between Grand Haven and Spring Lake went beyond the football field last week.

The two communities came together to raise $15,000 for Bluebird Cancer Retreats and its Family Camp program. The fundraiser included yard sign sales and donations with Bucs Pride during Thursday night’s game.

Bluebird provides free retreats and support for people affected by cancer and their families. Organizers say the money raised will help expand the Family Camp program and provide more support to families navigating a cancer journey.

While Grand Haven and Spring Lake competed on the field, the biggest winner was Bluebird.

Bluebird Cancer Retreats is looking for volunteers to carry suitcases at their Individual Healing Retreat, September 18th at 1:30 and September 20th at 10:00 at Camp Geneva. If you can help on either of these days please contact Jen @ Bluebird Cancer Retreats. They need 4-5 each day.
