(Lansing, MI) — State lawmakers are being asked by Governor Whitmer to send her new versions of the nine bills passed in 2023-2024 that she vetoed in July over concerns signing them after over two years of delays would ignite “endless litigation.” She stresses that the issues the bills were addressing like educator and public employee healthcare, expanded retirement benefits for public safety employees and others “address real issues faced by Michiganders.”
Republican House Speaker Matt Hall refused to send the bills to her office when the GOP took over the majority until he was ordered to do so by a court. Majority Democrats in the Senate sued and won the case.
