Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Grand Haven is moving closer to a new vision for Centertown.
City Council has approved the public release of an updated Centertown Vision Plan, beginning a public comment period that runs through September 27.
The original plan was created in 2014 to guide future development, transportation, land use, economic growth and improvements in the neighborhood.
City officials say the area has changed significantly over the past decade, prompting the need for an update. The revised plan focuses on making Centertown more walkable, strengthening its connection to downtown Grand Haven and creating more vibrant, mixed-use spaces.
The city hired consulting firm McKenna in December to help with the update. Representatives from the firm presented the revised plan during Monday’s City Council work session.
The plan calls for potential zoning changes, design guidelines, streetscape improvements, marketing efforts and other investments in the area.
Councilman Mike Fritz:
Public comments will be accepted through September 27. City Council is expected to consider final adoption of the plan later this fall.
