(West Olive, MI) – The U.S. Department of Energy has issued another 90-day emergency order to keep Consumers Energy’s coal-fired J.H. Campbell power plant operating in West Olive. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says she will legally challenge the Trump administration’s sixth order keeping the plant going. She says hundreds of millions of dollars “in unnecessary costs are staking up, and Michigan families will be forced to foot the bill to keep online a plant that should have been retired more than a year ago.”
The first emergency order was issued May 23rd, 2025, just days before the plant was scheduled to be closed.
