(Undated) – Michigan’s Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate says he hopes former President Obama will campaign for him. During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Abdul El-Sayed says he spoke with Obama following his primary victory last week, calling their conversation “really warm and inspiring.”

It comes as top Democrats have backed the progressive El-Sayed, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. El-Sayed will face Republican former Congressman Mike Rogers in November.
